We grew up with ski touring! Most of the ATTIQ team took their first steps on skis not on perfectly groomed pistes, but on local hills that were a far cry from today’s “bunny slopes”. Breaking trail on skis is among our early childhood memories.
We know what soaked ski clothing, frozen feet and rosy cheeks from the cold are like. So we’ve put together a selection of clothing and accessories that will come in handy when ski touring – and in which frost will be just a charming addition to winter.
In this section you will find:
All clothing with the ATTIQ label is constructed and designed in our studio and sewn in our workshop in the Podhale region. First models are always tested by the ATTIQ Team – professional athletes, including those who ski tour. Their tips and opinions are crucial when introducing ski touring clothing for women and men to our online shop and our brick-and-mortar store.
The basic principle we follow when creating ATTIQ clothing and accessories is their timelessness. We believe that sportswear – including ski touring kit – can last for years, and replacing it every season is not only unnecessary, but irresponsible (above all, not eco-friendly). To make sure our clothing stays with you for a long time, we take a thoughtful approach to production.
It matters to us that the production process takes place under our supervision. We work on the concept of ski touring trousers, jackets, underwear etc. in our office. Production then takes place right next door – in the workshop.
If you’re looking for clothing for ski touring, remember to carefully think through all your layers. Don’t forget the extras, too!
Choose clothing made from breathable materials that wick moisture away from the body. T-shirts made from sports polyester or merino wool will work perfectly.
Insulated midlayers with extra warmth on the chest or a gilet work well here. Proper ventilation is also important – ski touring clothing is in direct contact with a body that is wicking moisture. It is recommended to avoid cotton, which retains this moisture.
You will need a ski touring jacket and trousers that protect against wind and moisture (while also moving it away from the body). They should be made from breathable, waterproof materials. Gore-Tex or similar membranes are an excellent choice.
Other elements
Gloves with a windproof and waterproof membrane will be essential in colder conditions (i.e. on ski tours pretty much always). A hat or balaclava protecting the face and ears is a must!
Thermoactive socks that provide warmth and moisture-wicking are a key element. Well-chosen socks prevent chafing and protect feet from frostbite.
Off-piste skiing is more dangerous than skiing on the piste. Remember protective accessories. You’ll find these useful: a whistle, reflectors, a helmet, hand warmers, an emergency blanket, a first aid kit.
In our brick-and-mortar store and online sales we have women’s and men’s ski touring clothing for you. When designing clothing models, we adapt them to the body build of the people who will wear them (fabric sits differently on women’s bodies than on men’s).
If you’ve set your sights on a particular ski touring clothing model but have questions you’d like to discuss with our Customer Service Office – we’re at your disposal.
