According to data from the Polish Triathlon Association, around 40 thousand people actively train this sport, and the largest events see a total of over 10 thousand competitors taking part annually. Triathlon’s popularity is growing thanks to its variety, resulting from the combination of attractive types of outdoor activity: swimming, cycling and running. Triathlon outfit

At first glance, a triathlon outfit may resemble classic cycling clothing. However, its construction and the materials used go well beyond solutions that meet cyclists’ needs. It is a one-piece or two-piece garment that has to perform in three different and distinct disciplines: in the water, on the bike and during the run.

A typical triathlon suit is made from flexible, quick-drying and breathable materials that reduce drag in the water, and on land minimise the risk of chafing while enabling comfortable cycling and running. The fabric should also be resistant to chlorine, UV radiation and sea salt. A key element of the construction is the cycling pad – thin, quick-drying, providing comfort on the bike, but at the same time not hindering running. Thanks to this, the competitor does not have to change between stages of the race.

A good triathlon suit also means well-thought-out details – an ergonomic cut, flat seams, pockets for energy gels or a zip to help with ventilation. Triathlon suits have to withstand prolonged load, moisture, high temperatures and intense effort – which is why their quality is an investment in comfort and sporting performance.

Triathlon suits – how to choose?

The right triathlon outfit is not only a matter of aesthetics, but above all functionality and comfort. What should you look out for?

• fit: a triathlon suit should feel like a second skin, without pressure points or looseness. Too loose will get in the way in the water and during the run; too tight will restrict movement;

• fabric: it’s best to choose technical fabrics that are quick-drying and breathable;

• pad: a thin, breathable cycling pad should provide comfort on the saddle, but must not get in the way while running.

Although the basic design principles are shared, triathlon suits for women and men differ in the details. Women’s triathlon race kits have a cut tailored to the figure, taking into account the bust, waist and hips. They may also differ in leg length or seam placement to ensure maximum comfort. Suitable men’s triathlon suits are also made with anatomy in mind. Protection of sensitive areas from injury and muscle support matter.
