Women’s mountain jacket – how to choose it?

We know each of you has different preferences you follow when choosing a jacket. So we’ve prepared a set of a few general rules – it’s worth sticking to them when choosing a women’s mountain jacket.

• Weather conditions and activity: think about what type of mountain activity you’ll be doing (climbing, hiking) and what weather conditions you expect. You need a different jacket for trekking on cooler days and a different one for winter walks in the snow – a bit of a truism, but worth repeating.
• Type of insulation: mountain jackets may have down (natural) insulation, synthetic insulation or – as at ATTIQ – may be made with special synthetic down. Down filling provides excellent thermal insulation that is lightweight and compressible, but it loses its thermal properties when wet. Synthetic insulation is more resistant to moisture, but may be heavier and less compressible.
• Clothing layers: if you plan to wear several layers under the jacket, pay attention to whether the jacket has enough room for insulating layers and allows freedom of movement.
• Waterproofness: choose a jacket with sufficiently high waterproofness (expressed in millimetres of water column, e.g. 10 000 mm). This is especially important if you anticipate long hikes in areas where rain occurs.
• Breathability: check that the jacket has adequate breathability so moisture can escape to the outside.
• “That something”: try the jacket on, jump in it, bend over in it, and be sure to do the arm movements characteristic of walking. A mountain jacket has to work with you, be a second skin.

• We follow the principle that mountain clothing should last for many years. This is important to us not only from an environmental, but also an ethical point of view. We oppose overproduction, which is why you can bring damaged clothing with an ATTIQ label back to us once a year for a free repair.
• We care about the details! We sew in reflective elements that don’t resemble those from the crazy and bright 2000s, yet clearly signal your presence by the roadside – keeping you safe. We analyse how sports outfits behave in motion – we secure elements that could cause discomfort if left unprotected (e.g. zips), we check the angle at which pockets are sewn in, also in women’s hiking jackets, and we pay attention to the type of seams and the composition of the thread.

Women’s outdoor jacket – what to pair it with?
