MEN'S CYCLING JACKET VARMO

There are designs that are hard to encourage with words. Only when they appear on the body does everything become clear. That’s exactly the case with varmo – a minimalist cycling jacket created with rides in cooler seasons in mind.

Varmo is a men's cycling jacket with the extended back typical of this type of clothing. It fits close to the body, has a shaped cut and a zip running all the way up to a collar finished with a lowered half-neck. The plastic puller on the splash-resistant zip has a lock that prevents it from accidentally slipping out of the placket (there’s no frustrating regular “click”). We know you take small essentials on your rides, so we sewed two zipped pockets into the back of the jacket, hidden under a flap, but we ran them slightly on the diagonal – thanks to this, the hand putting in or taking out an item doesn’t need to do any extra gymnastics and quickly returns to the handlebars. And since we’re talking safety – we stitched reflective elements into Varmo, but chose graphite ones – they provide equally good visibility as their standard counterparts, yet they don’t stand out from the whole and they pair well with black. We added reflective details on the sleeve, on the chest and on the back (with the inscription).

We spent a long time considering which materials to choose to create a warm and максимально breathable men's cycling jacket. We went for a three-layer knit: two layers of polyester are complemented by a membrane. The inside of the jacket is covered with a pleasant-to-the-touch fabric with a diagonal weave – thanks to its texture, it doesn’t rub against clothing, doesn’t damage it and doesn’t pill. The silicone tape finishing the bottom of the jacket prevents it from riding up – it makes sure your back is always covered.

This is a jacket that, despite its understated design, contains plenty of construction treasures. We spent a lot of time taking care of the details. Choosing a reflective trim that would be strong yet still match the overall look proved quite a challenge. Our efforts were rewarded by plastic hook-and-loop tabs – the cuff adjusters – which neatly gather the fabric at the wrist without restricting hand movement. We also decided that since a cycling jacket is one of those garments that should sit as close to the body as possible, the labels should not be sewn in but applied with a soft print that doesn’t show through the fabric. We also made sure the zip wouldn’t bend while riding and that it is protected at the neck by a placket to prevent the skin from being caught. We hope that clocking up further kilometres in Varmo will be at least partly as enjoyable for you as it was for us to think about how it should perform on the road. Creating it was an otherworldly challenge for us, but an even greater joy.
