WOMEN'S CYCLING JACKET VARMO

There are designs that are hard to encourage with words. Only when they are on the body does everything become clear. That is exactly the case with varmo – a minimalist cycling jacket created with routes in cooler seasons in mind.

Varmo is a women's cycling jacket with the characteristic extended back of this type of clothing. It is close-fitting, has a shaped cut and a zip that runs all the way up to the collar finished with a lowered half-neck. The plastic puller of the showerproof zip has a lock preventing it from accidentally sliding out of the placket (there is no frustrating regular “click”). We know you take small items with you on rides, so we sewed two zipped pockets into the back of the jacket and hid them under a flap, but we ran them slightly on the diagonal – thanks to this, the hand putting in or taking out an item does not have to do extra gymnastics and quickly returns to the handlebars. Since we’re already talking about safety – we sewed reflective elements into Varmo, but we chose the graphite ones – they provide just as good visibility as their standard counterparts, yet they do not stand out from the whole and combine well with black. We sewed the reflectives onto the sleeve, on the chest and on the back (with the lettering).

We spent a long time considering which materials to choose to create a warm and maximally breathable women's cycling jacket. We opted for a three-layer knit: two layers of polyester are complemented by a membrane. The inside of the jacket is covered with a pleasant-to-the-touch fabric with a diagonal weave – thanks to its texture it does not rub against clothes, does not damage them and does not “pill”. A silicone tape finishing the bottom of the jacket prevents it from riding up – it makes sure the back is always covered.

This is a jacket that, despite its modest design, contains many construction treasures. We devoted a lot of time to taking care of the details. Choosing a reflective that would be strong and at the same time match the whole turned out to be quite a challenge. The effort was compensated by plastic hook-and-loop tabs – the sleeve adjusters – which efficiently gather the fabric at the wrist without restricting hand movement. We also decided that since a cycling jacket is one of those garments that should be as close to the body as possible, the labels in it should not be sewn in, but applied with a soft print that does not show on the fabric. We also ensured that the zip does not bend while riding and that it is secured at the neck with a placket protecting the skin from being caught. We hope that covering more kilometres in Varmo will be at least partly as enjoyable for you as it was for us to think about how it should perform on the road. Creating it was a heavenly challenge for us, but an even greater joy.
